Advance Notice of Surface Dressing

Added on 19 June 2019

From Leicestershire County Council

Surface Dressing Notification of Works.

The following roads in your Parish have surface dressing works programmed for this summer period, some may have already been completed.

Sutton Lane, Wood Lane and Church Lane – end of June.

Surface dressing is a preventative maintenance treatment that seals the road surface, extends the life of the road, reduces the occurrence of potholes and increases skid resistance by laying chippings on a bitumen “glue” and then rolling them into the surface.  Excess chippings are swept up and then compacted further by vehicular traffic.  Road markings are replaced afterwards.  The works are quick moving and, dependent upon the road length numerous sites can be completed in a day. The scheduling of the visit will depend upon the size of stone being used, and it may be necessary to visit your village at the beginning and end of the season.  The treatment is weather dependant, and whilst we will try to work to a programme some slippage will be expected for wet weather, and some roads may have to be reprogrammed for either later this year or for next year.  Residents of roads affected in the Parish will receive the attached leaflet 1 working day prior to the works so that arrangements can be made to move any vehicles.
