Police warning to work van owners

Added on 14 July 2020

Police are warning work van owners to be on their guard after a spate of thefts elsewhere in the borough.

There have been around 8 theft from work vans over the last few nights in the Market Bosworth area.

Entrance to the vans has been gained by damage to locks or cutting the side from the van.

PLEASE report any suspicious activity you see overnight to 101 (non-emergency) or 999 (emergency).

Please ensure you remove tools from your vehicle, try to leave your vehicle parked against a wall or fence to make it difficult to enter, park under a well-lit area or an area covered by CCTV. Also consider an alarm for the vehicle.

Consider property marking your tools with a UV pen or CRE MARK. You can also register your items for free at https://www.immobilise.com/

You can visit https://www.leics.police.uk/cp/crime-prevention/theft-from-a-vehicle/vehicle-safe-and-sound/ for more security information and advice.

If you have a friend, neighbour or family member who has a van, please pass the message on.
