Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan

Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan

Leicestershire County Council

Added at 13:22 on 25 January 2022

Have your say on plans to improve the cycling and walking networks around Loughborough and Shepshed and the south of Leicester area.

Welcome to the Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP) engagement for Loughborough and Shepshed and the south of Leicester area, the next step in helping develop a joined up cycling and walking network in Leicestershire.

Following the adoption of our Cycling and Walking Strategy and Action Plan in 2021, we are now in the process of developing cycling and walking infrastructure plans. These plans are for county towns and the urban areas surrounding Leicester city, in addition to supporting District authorities who choose to develop LCWIPs for other areas.

These plans will set out the vision and priorities for cycling and walking improvements in each of the areas to create convenient and practical cycling and walking networks to help and encourage people to travel more sustainably.

The Loughborough and Shepshed area and south of Leicester area are our first two areas of focus for LCWIP development. Your feedback, along with other factors such as cycling data, will help us shape these draft plans.

Our online forums for these plans, which are accessible via the link below, sets out the draft proposed cycling and walking priority routes for improvement over the next 10 years for these two areas.

However, these proposals are not final. This engagement is your chance to help influence the cycling and walking network, by letting us know what improvements to cycling and walking routes you would like to see, and where.

Your feedback would be welcomed on:

  • The draft cycling and walking network, e.g. are there key routes missing that lots of people currently use, or could use if improved, or do you feel a change to a route is needed?
  • Comments on types of infrastructure improvements you would like to see on the cycling and walking network – e.g. dedicated cycle lanes, junction improvements, benches etc.
  • Other feedback you think would be of value in developing the Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plans for these areas

The two online forums are open from 20 January 2022 until 20 February, seeking feedback on the draft Cycling and Walking network and potential infrastructure you would like to see in these areas.
